30 Days Of Insanity
Every day since my first exposure to internet marketing back in June 2006, I’ve been dreaming about the day that I’d earn lots of money (as in 6 figures per month in my case). Initially, just like any newbie would, I’d dream about earning lots of money instantly (as in days or weeks) by pressing some kind of magic, secret button.
But after a disappointing year or so, I learn that it’s just not going to work. That is just a dream going nowhere.
The good news is that, after 4 years and 8 months in this business, during the last crazy 30 days or so we finally made 6 figures (yes I know it’s slow for me, unlike other marketers who can achieve that a lot faster). Though it was a low 6 figure, I was still extremely elated!
Bear in mind though that this was sales revenue, not profits. We still have to pay affiliates (a huge chunk of sales came from affiliates – thank you guys who’ve helped us!), and other overhead costs (very little though compared to what we’re making). Last but not least, I also have to share the revenue with my partner Adi.
Some really big guys promoted us even when we didn’t approach them (and I haven’t even used my “How to get JVpartners even when you don’t promote their products” tactic yet). They just promoted and promoted. One crazy affiliate even got $3000+ in commissions with a $2.92 earnings per click!
How Did We Achieve 6 Figures?
Anyway, all of this was possible because last month, we pre-released Profits Theme, our latest tool for creating full-blown profit sites super fast, at a 72% discounted price. Originally we planned to have the discount for 14 days, but because the response we got was so incredible (totally insane and totally unexpected by us), we have no choice but to end the offer earlier than expected. So instead of 14 days, it was on sale for 5 only days.
The reason why we did that was to support ongoing customers who bought Profits Theme. We had over a thousand members in a short space of just 5 days. Workload was very intense and heavy – customer support, fixing bugs, adding additional training tutorials for members, etc.
After about a month of closing the doors, after we felt that we can deal with more members, we released it again 2 weeks ago at the discounted price for another 5 days.
(By the way, Profits Theme 1.1 (current version is 1.0.6) is going to be released soon and it will have a few new features and fix more bugs).
Of course, without the discounted price we wouldn’t be able to achieve 6 figures in sales revenue over the last 30 days.
Why Am I Telling You This?
I want you to know that you can make big money online if you can help solve other people’s problems. Duh! You already knew that didn’t you? But did you implement what you knew into real action? Or you just keep saying to yourself: “Yeah I know that. I know. I understand” without actually doing something about it?
As the saying goes (which I love it by the way – if you’ve been following me you know I love it):
To know and not to do is not yet to know.
So what problems that people have that you can help solve?
In my case, Profits Theme solved a very specific problem – internet marketers who don’t know how to design and code can easily set up sites fast. Of course, as with everything, there’s a learning curve involved. But once you get past the learning curve, setting up sites is a breeze.
And also, with software you’re going to have bugs, which is why when users report bugs to us, we’re glad because they’re helping us to make the software better. Thank you guys! Please continue to report any bugs you encounter over at the support desk.
What problems that people have that you can help solve?
Or maybe I should be more specific:
What SPECIFIC Problems That People Have That You Can Help Solve?
The more specific your product/tool/service is, the more sales you’re going to make. Yes, by being specific, you’re essentially limiting your target audience, which is better by the way.
Here’s why: when you talk to a specific segment of your target market and ignore the rest, these people will feel more connected with you. Your marketing message becomes laser-focused to this specific group of people.
Let’ use Profits Theme again as an example. On the sales page of Profits Theme, the pre-headline clearly states this:
The WordPress Theme Created Specifically For Internet Marketers By Internet Marketers
1. If you’re not using WordPress, then please don’t buy (we even state that if you’re not familiar with using WordPress, or don’t know how to install WordPress, then don’t buy it also)
2. If you’re not an internet marketer, then please don’t buy. This means that if you’re only a blogger, then please don’t buy it also.
This might not seem to be a good move initially, since I’m limiting my target audience. And you’ve probably heard many times that we should get our marketing message to as many eyeballs as possible right?
Eyeballs Doesn’t Mean Squat
So what if you have many eyeballs watching, when you’re not addressing their exact problems? Let’s face it. Most people who’ve seen your offer are not going to buy it anyway, so why not eliminate them altogether and instead target your offer to a specific group of people, thereby increasing the sales conversion of your product?
And we haven’t even talked about the consequences after people buy your product.
If your offer is targeted to the general masses and not specific to a segment, these people who’ve bought your product are going to be less satisfied than those who’ve bought your product because you’ve addressed a specific problem they’re facing.
So more specific = higher customer satisfaction = higher chance that they’ll buy your other products
Less specific and more general = lower customer satisfaction = lower change that they’ll buy your other products
So what’s the moral of today’s post?
You can make big money online if you can help solve other people’s specific problems. Duh? Remember, simply knowing is not enough. You need to actually do it. So stop “Duh-ing” and start “Do-ing”.
