30 Days Of Insanity

Every day since my first exposure to internet marketing back in June 2006, I’ve been dreaming about the day that I’d earn lots of money (as in 6 figures per month in my case). Initially, just like any newbie would, I’d dream about earning lots of money instantly (as in days or weeks) by pressing some kind of magic, secret button.

But after a disappointing year or so, I learn that it’s just not going to work. That is just a dream going nowhere.

I’m Slow

The good news is that, after 4 years and 8 months in this business, during the last crazy 30 days or so we finally made 6 figures (yes I know it’s slow for me, unlike other marketers who can achieve that a lot faster). Though it was a low 6 figure, I was still extremely elated!

Bear in mind though that this was sales revenue, not profits. We still have to pay affiliates (a huge chunk of sales came from affiliates – thank you guys who’ve helped us!), and other overhead costs (very little though compared to what we’re making). Last but not least, I also have to share the revenue with my partner Adi.

Some really big guys promoted us even when we didn’t approach them (and I haven’t even used my “How to get JVpartners even when you don’t promote their products” tactic yet). They just promoted and promoted. One crazy affiliate even got $3000+ in commissions with a $2.92 earnings per click!

How Did We Achieve 6 Figures?

Anyway, all of this was possible because last month, we pre-released Profits Theme, our latest tool for creating full-blown profit sites super fast, at a 72% discounted price. Originally we planned to have the discount for 14 days, but because the response we got was so incredible (totally insane and totally unexpected by us), we have no choice but to end the offer earlier than expected. So instead of 14 days, it was on sale for 5 only days.

The reason why we did that was to support ongoing customers who bought Profits Theme. We had over a thousand members in a short space of just 5 days. Workload was very intense and heavy – customer support, fixing bugs, adding additional training tutorials for members, etc.

After about a month of closing the doors, after we felt that we can deal with more members, we released it again 2 weeks ago at the discounted price for another 5 days.

(By the way, Profits Theme 1.1 (current version is 1.0.6) is going to be released soon and it will have a few new features and fix more bugs).

Of course, without the discounted price we wouldn’t be able to achieve 6 figures in sales revenue over the last 30 days.

Why Am I Telling You This?

I want you to know that you can make big money online if you can help solve other people’s problems. Duh! You already knew that didn’t you? But did you implement what you knew into real action? Or you just keep saying to yourself: “Yeah I know that. I know. I understand” without actually doing something about it?

As the saying goes (which I love it by the way – if you’ve been following me you know I love it):

To know and not to do is not yet to know.

So what problems that people have that you can help solve?

In my case, Profits Theme solved a very specific problem – internet marketers who don’t know how to design and code can easily set up sites fast. Of course, as with everything, there’s a learning curve involved. But once you get past the learning curve, setting up sites is a breeze.

And also, with software you’re going to have bugs, which is why when users report bugs to us, we’re glad because they’re helping us to make the software better. Thank you guys! Please continue to report any bugs you encounter over at the support desk.

What problems that people have that you can help solve?

Or maybe I should be more specific:

What SPECIFIC Problems That People Have That You Can Help Solve?

The more specific your product/tool/service is, the more sales you’re going to make. Yes, by being specific, you’re essentially limiting your target audience, which is better by the way.

Here’s why:  when you talk to a specific segment of your target market and ignore the rest, these people will feel more connected with you. Your marketing message becomes laser-focused to this specific group of people.

Let’ use Profits Theme again as an example. On the sales page of Profits Theme, the pre-headline clearly states this:

The WordPress Theme Created Specifically For Internet Marketers By Internet Marketers

Meaning:

1. If you’re not using WordPress, then please don’t buy (we even state that if you’re not familiar with using WordPress, or don’t know how to install WordPress, then don’t buy it also)

2. If you’re not an internet marketer, then please don’t buy. This means that if you’re only a blogger, then please don’t buy it also.

This might not seem to be a good move initially, since I’m limiting my target audience. And you’ve probably heard many times that we should get our marketing message to as many eyeballs as possible right?

Wrong!

Eyeballs Doesn’t Mean Squat

So what if you have many eyeballs watching, when you’re not addressing their exact problems? Let’s face it. Most people who’ve seen your offer are not going to buy it anyway, so why not eliminate them altogether and instead target your offer to a specific group of people, thereby increasing the sales conversion of your product?

And we haven’t even talked about the consequences after people buy your product.

If your offer is targeted to the general masses and not specific to a segment, these people who’ve bought your product are going to be less satisfied than those who’ve bought your product because you’ve addressed a specific problem they’re facing.

So more specific = higher customer satisfaction = higher chance that they’ll buy your other products

Less specific and more general = lower customer satisfaction = lower change that they’ll buy your other products

So what’s the moral of today’s post?

You can make big money online if you can help solve other people’s specific problems. Duh? Remember, simply knowing is not enough. You need to actually do it. So stop “Duh-ing” and start “Do-ing”.

It’s one thing to understand that internet business can be lucrative – but I don’t get why people still imagine that they can get rich quick and get sucked into every new “shiny object” out there.
I appreciate that you are honest and forthcoming about your personal experience online. It’s very refreshing.

“I’d dream about earning lots of money instantly (as in days or weeks) by pressing some kind of magic, secret button.”
Been there. Buying every damn satin-milli9onaire-push-button software that was hitting my inbox. It still amazes me stuff like still sells (Clickbank marketplace is the proof).

  • Irene on August 3, 2011

Really nice post! Got me some motivation, again thanks!

  • Krishna Papan on July 28, 2011

Congratulations on reaching your goal! My current goal is to make $200 per day online. I have yet to have my first $200 day but yesterday I had my best day ever at $160. I know it’s only a matter of time before a few of my sites start ranking higher. But it has taken longer than the gurus told me it would :) . If you hear this rich quick business, don’t believe it!

  • Janet on July 24, 2011

Wow, 6 figures is incredible. But it sounds like it’s been a long road of learning along the way. I’ve always been a little weary of attempting internet marketing myself, but it sounds like you’re doing really well. Thanks for the solid advice you Welly.

  • Susan on July 21, 2011

You can’t earn a loads of cash instantly. It would take time and patience. But you’ll earn your target 6 figures if you do your best and don’t give up.

  • Chase on July 11, 2011

I didn’t realize how important having WordPress is. I knew it was a good platform for blogging, but I’m learning about how much of a benefit it is…

  • Fernando Landim on May 7, 2011

    Your success is our inspiration!

    Continue doing a brillant job.

  • Brindes on May 5, 2011

Initially i tryed to monetize with (seo) and adsense links only with what i had learned about internet marketing and seo.

After a while doing that and seeing very low profit i changed my focus and start promoting my real business but online and with I had learned so far (that change was something like a month ago).

Oh if had though about that earlier.. the results are already starting to show up.

Google in Brazil holds aproximatly 95% of the search market, it sucks i know, i hate monopolys, but it also brings some advantages since if you want to do some optimization it becomes really easy, after all, all you have to worry is optimize for Google

Once you do that and are running a business that people normally seek online, with some efforts you can rank easily on top 10 (even for medium traffic keywords).

We already done several deals lately just because of that :)

PS.: this business is not an ecommerce or something like that, is a normal company (a distributor) that all deals are closed offline, trought telephone or personal contact.

I am just planning to make money on internet, I appreciate reading this blog, it helped me internalize my plan. But I think aside from earning money the nice feeling of helping other people solve their problems while you’re earning is a nice thought. I know I got a lot of learning to do with internet marketing but I will pursue.

  • Lad15 on May 2, 2011

Once again, Congrats Welly. You and Adi deserve all the success you can handle. The product was/is great. Although I don’t have as much time (YET) to learn, use, and implement everything, your constant striving for a more complete and better product is admirable. You deserve all the success (and praise listed here). I along with many others appreciate your candid veiw, and excellent technical skills. I, for one, really appreciate your honesty in explaining that even with a 6-figure month, there were expenses (affiliates/partners etc.) that so many of the “Gurus” fail to mention in their sales pitches and clckbnk shots, a topic I have been writing about for some time.

Keep up the great work. Continued success. Lad15

  • Rob M on April 4, 2011

So true that making money on internet can be slow. I know from experience as well. As you mentioned, solving people’s problems is a big part – so is actually implementing what you learn. Keep up the great work, Welly!

  • Bill on March 31, 2011

    Congratulations guy!

I indeed bought the 1st release of your theme it was a no -brainer evenr if I fall into the IM illness of not having enough time to implement this great theme not because of detraction but of action in another area.
I will strategically proceed and come back to the thme/you.

keep the good work and motivate others who are still pushing forward to find one big signle problem they can solve to this giant market place. It´s room for everyone, one finde day i will produce my 100K/month,yes I will!

    P.S. Welly meaning you r Vettel/RedBull fan?
I´m Hamilton fan will get u next time G:)

    • Welly on March 31, 2011

      Hey Bill!

I’m a Kimi fan. But he’s no longer in F1. Rumor has it he’s going to Nascar now? Now I support Vettel and Hammy.

      I dislike Alonso though :)

Great to see here that someone share my interest in F1!

  • Tim on March 30, 2011

What a relief to actually be on a list and receive a link to finish reading an article or post AND it actually be worth it! Good stuff here. I seldom leave comments, however I was so pleased that I had to say GREAT JOB on this post.

This is the type of worthwhile information worth reading…again…and again.

    Thanks Welly!

  • Welly on March 30, 2011

@Everyone: A big thank you for the congrats! They are really appreciated. 4 years and 8 months — dear, that’s quite some time isn’t it?

Now I need to create a system:

    1. to repeat this month in and month out
    2. to have my business run automatically without me.

Both are huge challenges, but I’m already looking forward to it, and I’m going to tackle one of them at a time, starting with number 1.

Wish me luck guys and gals :D

  • Akhere on March 30, 2011

    Hi Welly,
Profits theme is a wonderful software. I bought a copy and will be using it soon on my wordpress blogs. The only minus is that you have to read the installation manual online. That is really absurd. I think you would have done better with such a dynamic product by simply providing a pdf document installation manual. I hope you consider doing that soon.

    • Welly on March 30, 2011

      Hi Akhere

Yes there already is a pdf manual. Go to the “user manual” section to download it.

  • Spencer on March 30, 2011

Congrats on your attaining the 6 figure level. I hope to obtain that one day so I can retire from my full time job. Btw, can’t wait for the updated Profits Theme.

  • Laurel on March 30, 2011

Congratulations, Welly! I purchased Profits Theme two weeks ago and I’m looking forward to using it. I’m a newbie to internet marketing and your theme is making it easy for me to dive in. Congratulations on your success! May this be the beginning of great things for you.

  • Roger on March 30, 2011

Great job Welly. I have installed it on three different product sites now and it works perfectly. Click my name for the last one and a unique way to get members.

  • Allen Walker on March 29, 2011

Congratulations on your 6 figure month, Welly. :)

I can see that the response for Profits Theme was overwhelming!

Any indication so that I can watch it like a hawk this time.
New to your site.Hope to pick up golden nuggets from your other posts.

PT 1.1 should be ready by the end of April. So stay tuned for that.

  • stewart on March 29, 2011

Your product is a lifesaver! The biggest problem I have is lack of time. I work hard , but you can only work with the time availablr. This packages a lot of tasks all in one!! Keep it coming..

  • Walter Gavurnik on March 29, 2011

Congrats Welley! PT is a GREAT product. I purchased as
soon as it was released and could not be happier!
Still got some learning to do but, everything is explained in complete detail with the tutorials included.

    A 6 figure month is fantastic! Go get’em kid…
Yea I know that’s not net but, you still get a nice chunk of change when overhead is paid…

Congrats again Welley. Can’t wait to see the updates

  • Marty Cordova on March 29, 2011

    Welly;

Congratulations on making 6 figures (sales). I’m not there yet, but soon – I hope.

I purchased “Profit Theme” the second time around. Actually, I was going to purchase it the first time around but you canceled the program before I had time to buy it and I anxiously waited for it to be re-released. I’m using it but you are right there is a learning curve and I’m slow to begin with but I love the program. Without it I don’t know what I would do.

There is one WISH I do have – I wish that you would offer the “cloner” program at the $27 price for just a couple of weeks. I think that is a great program and would help me publish even more sites.

So if you are ever just sitting around thinking of what you could do to help those of us that still haven’t made 6 figures offer the discount to those of us that purchased Profit Theme.

Again – Congratulations and I pray that your good fortune continues for many many years to come.

    Marty Cordova

    • Welly on March 30, 2011

      Hi Marty

Are you talking about the wordpress plugin wpcyteclone? Because if it is, I don’t own that. Ken Sar, a respected internet marketer, owns that :)

  • boils-boils treaatment on March 29, 2011

Welly, its nice to see that hard work pays off as well as honest work. Keep at it you are a true insipiration to us all. Not to mention your affiliate program is tops! You all should look into it.

  • Bernie Perry on March 29, 2011

Congratulations Welly! You paid the price and are reaping the rewards.

Those who bought at the discount price feel fortunate … I bought at full price and I’m fortunate too!

I’ve been using PT to create a membership site and except for a few minor issues I’m very pleased. I’m hoping the next version will adddress those.

    Thanks … Bernie

  • Mick on March 29, 2011

    thanks

  • Robert on March 29, 2011

    Hey Welly,

What an awesome, honest and inspiring post! I was one of the lucky customers able to buy your “getprofitsfast” product during the 5 day offer, a product which you’ve really over-delivered on! You and your business partner Adi differentiate yourselves in the market by actually caring about your customers and providing good support after the product has been purchased. Keep up the good work! Congratulations on the six figures, look forward to seeing more form you this year.

    Rob

  • Anthony on March 29, 2011

    Hiya Wella,

  • Stew Kelly on March 29, 2011

    Hey Welly,
It’s really nice to hear you and Adi cracked 6 figures, even if it wasn’t all profit.

After viewing the video, I liked your software concept so much I bought 2 licenses when it was a WFSO, plus the upsells:)

Can’t wait to see what new features and themes will be coming along.
    Best regards,
    Stew

  • Allen on March 29, 2011

    Hi,

Tried to get in just after the 5 days. Had to sit patiently for a month. Got in on the second chance. So glad I did. I will be installing on a number of my sites.

    Well done!. Thanks Allen

  • Roman on March 29, 2011

Everybody who’s congratulating him for the 6 figure income should remember that it’s not profit. Revenue can’t be used to buy things, you know…

  • Peter on March 29, 2011

Thoroughly deserved considering what you put into it….that must have been more that a couple of hours of work.

    Well done

  • Franck Silvestre on March 29, 2011

    Hi Welly,

I got your theme. Didn’t create a site with it yet, but I will do that soon.

Your blog is spot on, and congrats for the 6 figures.

I’d add: “If you see something that works, just get it better” (you know what I mean…)

    Regards,
    Franck

  • Hi Welly,

    Many Congratulations :)
I’ve watched you over the last few years, we’ve done a swap or two and I’ve seen you continue to give good advice and not get into the whole hyped up world of the gurus!
So I’m pleased to see you have such success with what seems such a cool product…

Hey I even bought a copy myself instead of writing and assking for a look…lol
(I’ve not installed it yet – but at the price you charged it was a no brainer for future projects!!)

I look forward to seeing your continued growth, and your continued good advice to newbies on your list :)

    Warm Regards
    Randy

    • Welly on March 30, 2011

Thanks for the support thus far Randy. It’s well appreciated!

  • Andy Bailey on March 29, 2011

I think I bought it on the second discount launch. I purchased it straight away because it was a no-brainer at that price!. I’ve only played around with it so far but, I have been pestered with dreams about subjects where I WILL be using it though. I’ll be going part time only in the family business soon so I’ll have at least 4 days a week that I can fully commit to my internet job/fun/play/journey (delete as appropriate) :-)

Once my own product and launch are out the door, I’ll be putting some time into this to launch other products that I’m just dying to get out the door and now I have the perfect theme to do it with.

  • Paul McCarthy on March 29, 2011

  • Ryan Parenti on March 29, 2011

    Hi,

I think one of the reasons this was so successful for you is you created a unique product.

Instead of another ‘how to make money’ product you made a wordpress theme. It put you ahead.

Thanks for the update and bravo on your month.

  • Mark on March 29, 2011

Congrats on your long awaited accomplishment. I picked up the new theme to be able to run membership sites with it. Have not installed it but hope to get it gong this week. Thanks for the cool and functional theme

  • Pete on March 29, 2011

I know this is designed for Internet Marketing, but I needed to build a website for my church and so I decided to see what I could do with PT since we wanted an optin page to get people signed up for our newsletter and we want to add video.

So kind of having fun getting around that learning curve while I help my church out at the same time.

  • andreas kramers on March 29, 2011

Welly, your approach to I.M. is one I can really connect with. Putting it in the daylight it deserves, which is work, study and more work.At least it is for me ;)
Anyway, still very satisfied with your theme and quick support.
    Bye, gotta duh something now.
    Cheers,
    Andi

      Hey Andi

Exactly! SO MUCH HARD WORK for the past 4+ years. People always judge only from the outside saying it’s so nice to be able to earn such and such money, but they forgot they need to put in hard work and dedication. This is not a game, hello! :)
