Most of the time when we think about creating information products, we tremble with fear. The truth is that information product creation doesn’t have to be complicated and hard.

There is a VERY FAST method of creating an information product from scratch.

Interviewing experts in your marketplace.

Yep, you can create really FAST information products by interviewing experts in your marketplace.

Interviewing experts for your information product creation is way faster than writing another ebook or report, or creating another audio or video “how to” product.

This is because when you interview experts, they are the ones creating and providing the content for you. This means 3 things:

1. You don’t need to be very knowledgeable on the subject. You only need to know the basics.

2. Since you’re interviewing an expert, the information they provide in the interview is most likely high quality (if you know how to ask the RIGHT questions…)

3. The interview information product that you get at the end has a high perceived value because an expert (and NOT just another guy) is providing the content. When experts talk, you better listen and take notes!

So where do you find experts in your marketplace to interview for your information product creation?

A good place is Amazon.com. Go to the books section and browse the category that fits your market or niche. Find 10 – 20 physical books and hunt down the author’s contact information. You most likely won’t find their contact information on Amazon, so you need to look up in Google by the author’s FULL NAME.

Most authors (especially those NOT in the Internet business or Internet marketing field) don’t have a clue about online marketing.

This is where you come in and offer them a chance to get their name and brand out there. You offer them exposure.

PLUS

You also tell them that they are welcomed to promote their book or some other kind of related products or services at the end of the interview.

FINALLY

You tell them that you’re going to market the interview product HARD so that it lands on the hands of as many people as possible.

When the interview is over, you’ll have an audio product that you can give away as a freebie to entice people to join your list, or you can sell it.

TIP:

To boost the perceived value of your audio interview, it’s recommended that you have it transcribed into text as well. You can use the services of freelancers over at freelancer.com or http://www.transcription-team.com (not affiliate link).

Another TIP:

When people get your interview product (along with the transcription) either for free or by buying, you can earn additional income by upselling them the physical version of the audio interview in the form of a physical CD.

For this, you can use a service like Kunaki.com. They charge a very low price and there is no minimum quantity that you have to produce. Yet Another TIP:

If you’re giving away the interview product for free instead of selling it, you can also tell the expert that they can distribute the interview to their customers and audience. This will do 2 things:

1. It will make you look good and generous in the eyes of the expert. You’re such a kind soul in their eyes. This will foster your relationship with them.

2. Inside the interview, you’re going to direct listeners back to your website by saying that they can get more tips and strategies there. When experts distribute the interview to their list, you get exposure and hopefully some of them will opt-in to your list.

Information product creation doesn’t have to be complicated or hard if you know the smart way of doing it. And that smart way is to LEVERAGE other people’s skills and time.

    This is an interesting concept and definitely a way to create something quickly and without much hassle. What concerns me is that – though I can see how you could easily create a very useful free giveaway – I wonder how successfully this could be applied to producing a more substantial product, maybe something that could be sold for say $20-50′s or more. In this case are there any particular tips you could recommend?

    There are plenty of tips mentioned here. I bet they are helpful for information product creation. The detailed instructions given are very useful. About the fast way, I think it depends on the person already.
